Liam was born 7 weeks premature, he was small but very cute, he spent 2 weeks in SCBU at Borders General Hospital and then was allowed home with us. He has an older sister Charmaine and 2 younger sisters Brogan & Paige.
Liam had health problems since birth but he soon overcame these, then at around 4 months old Liam developed chest infections for which he was treated.
On the morning of February 17th 1997 We discovered our little angel lying lifeless and unresponsive, I immediately called 999 and started infant CPR. I was able to get his heart going again but sadly his lungs werent for it, The ambulance crew arrived and took over, we then rushed to the Hospital where Liam was put on life support, after a few hours the doctors discussed with us switching off Life Support to see if Liam would manage on his own, if he did it would be great, sadly it wasnt to be. He couldnt breathe on his own, hold his own body temperature aswell as other things.
The machine was switched off which broke my heart and i was left in a state of shock. Liam sadly didnt respond and passed away.
The following days I had the most difficult job of organising Liam's funeral, wasnt easy as i knew this was the final time he would be above the ground, I saw him before he was prepared for burial and he looked ever so peaceful.
He will be sadly missed and it was diagnosed as Cot Death, - The Unknown Killer.
He will always be in our hearts.
We would therefore ask if you can to donate to The Scottish Cot Death Trust so that they can continue their much needed work that they do.
